Assistant Controller

The Assistant Controller position will report to the Chief Financial Officer and oversees the day-to-day management of the Accounting Department, including consolidation, general ledger, accounts receivables, accounts payable and accruals, account reconciliations, fixed assets, etc. This position is responsible for designing operational procedures and processes that meet audit standards and improve efficiency. The Assistant Controller will ensure the integration of data produced into systems and support the objectives of financial analysts, while ensuring the accurate compilation, analysis, and reporting of accounting data. This role will lead annual audits, quarterly reviews, and special projects. This position involves significant interaction with external auditors, finance staff, and process owners in other functions. Ensures proper recordkeeping for document retention. Hires, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function. 

Duties/Responsibilities:  

  • Manage and own the month, quarter, and year-end closing process 
  • Manage the preparation of financials, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial audits by analyzing financial data; comparing data to third-party information, budgets, and actual results; researching balance sheet account variances; managing and preparing financial information for audits; and participating in meetings with other functional groups  
  • Design and implement business processes to ensure efficiency and compliance; working with other functional groups when reviewing new accounting programs; and assisting in the resolution of accounting issues 
  • Review and approve journal entries and related reconciliations 
  • Manage general accounting and consolidation (GL, Revenue and AR reserves, Accruals, Cash, and Fixed Assets, key balance sheet reserves, roll-forwards, and account reconciliations) 
  • Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable reconciliation process 
  • Review monthly consolidated financial statements and perform variance analysis and investigate discrepancies  
  • Manage the account reconciliation process; review account reconciliations to ensure accuracy, resolve issues or questions about unusual account balances; drive process improvements for the account reconciliation process; and communicate reconciliation results to the CFO 
  • Build and develop a high-performing accounting team, by providing supervision and development opportunities for the team through hiring, training, mentoring, assigning duties, providing recognition, and ensuring diversity awareness. 
  • Manage the preparation of audit schedules 
  • Ensure consistent application of accounting policies and practices, including preparing financial information in accordance with GAAP and regulatory requirements by assisting in the research of regulatory changes; and ensuring the company financial statements are compliant with GAAP. 
  • Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures and supports company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by implementing related action plans; 
  • Drive automation of manual processes to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of existing processes
